Top tourism hot spot starts ‘We love Alberta campaign’

With rising political tensions between B.C and Alberta, a top tourism destination in Vernon is going to bold lengths in order to lure in more customers from Alberta.

Predator Ridge has launched a ‘We love Alberta’ campaign aimed at keeping and attracting tourists for the busy summer season.

“We realize the significance and the importance of that Alberta market, specifically here in Predator Ridge where a large a percentage of our homeowner base are Albertans,” said Vice President Brad Pelletier.

According to Pelletier, roughly 42% of the homeowner base is from Alberta and about a third of clients stay at the resort.

“Unfortunately we’ve seem to be caught in the cross hairs, in you know this trade dispute between provinces, so we felt why don’t we take in upon ourselves to go out there with a really warm message to Albertans,” he said.

The advertisements are expected to roll out on Wednesday, a day after the Alberta provincial election.

But Pelletier insists, the campaign is not about politics.

“I’m not trying to get political with this message in any way, this has nothing to do with being political this is about protecting our business and making sure that we are listening to our customers, and so many of our customers are from Alberta,” he said.
