Silver Star Season Wrap

Silver Star Season Wrap

Apr 12, 2019 | 6:00 PM

Silver Star is now looking ahead to its summer season, despite still having close to two metres of snow on the ground.

The resort recently put a wrap on its alpine season, and says skier visits were up from the year before.

“Every year is usually generally a little bit busier than the season before but they all pretty close, but every year does go up a little bit,” says Chantelle Deacon, Communications Manager for the resort.

Deacon says they saw gains in visitors from markets in Seattle, Canada’s East Coast, and more Australians.

She says the first annual Seismic Festival definitely improved business at the end of March, and will be back next season.

“I think a lot of people in the Okanagan are looking for things to do during spring break. And I think a festival was really needed, especially up at the ski resort. It gave families, teens and university students something to do during their spring break,” adds Deacon.

Deacon says resort officials didn’t have any more information on the status of an investigation by consultants into a March 20th avalanche that injured a snowboarder.
