Council considers capping pot shops

Council considers capping pot shops

Apr 8, 2019 | 10:55 PM

City Council is considering putting a limit on the number of pot shop applications that come before council.

The move came after council gave the green light to two more applications on Monday in addition to the seven pot shop applications that came before council at the last meeting on March 25 .

City Councillor Akbal Mund suggested the idea saying that council needs to really think about how many pot shops they want in the community.

” I see no end to us receiving these applications, at some point we are going to have to make a decision I think, the sooner the better on how many we want to have in the community,” he said.

Mund suggested putting the cap on pot shop applications at a dozen.

Discussions on limiting the number of pot shop applications in the city will be brought up at the next council meeting .
