Coroner launches tool to help identify human remains

The B.C Coroners Service has launched a new tool to help identify human remains.

The new online tool displays important information regarding cases of unidentified remains throughout the province with the hopes of it generating new leads and solving cases.

“By reaching out and engaging members of the public with the launch of this innovative tool, it’s our hope to gain new investigative leads that will lead to the identification of these unidentified individuals and bring closure to their families,” said Lisa Lapointe, chief coroner.

The unidentified human remains interactive viewer contains spatial, temporal, and statistical information on cases dating as far back as 1953.
