A Vernon man is believed to be one of the 157 people killed in the tragic plane crash in Ethiopia on Sunday.

Chumming Jack Wang was the owner of Big O Tires on 27th street.

Garnet Willet, shop manager, said they received unofficial word yesterday and remain in shock.

“It just takes your breath away,” said Willet.

“He was scheduled to be on that flight, was supposed to be on that flight. Everything is pointing to yes but we aren’t sure until they give you the proof,” Willet said.

He said Wang’s wife and daughter have left for Ethiopia to go to the crash site but they won’t receive official confirmation until a DNA analysis is completed.

Willet called Wang a wonderful boss who was funny, kind, and easy to get along with.

“He would do Chinese barbecues out back in the summertime. He loved to bring Kentucky Fried Chicken in for us. He loved Kentucky Fried Chicken.”

Wang was traveling to Nairobi to finish last minute immigration paperwork, Willet said.
