Spring Expo Makes Strong Debut

Mar 13, 2019 | 5:00 PM

A new event in Vernon got good support from the community, and also helped out a well-known charity.

Spring Expo, put on by the Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce at Kal Tire Place North, had about 1,200 people pass through the doors last weekend, visiting the 60 exhibitors that took part.

That included businesses, non-profits and government organizations.

“There was absolutely something for everyone, and Expo was also a great opportunity to showcase Kal Tire Place North as the community’s newest public facility. We thank our exhibitors, sponsors, volunteers and the public for their confidence in this community showcase,” says Dione Chambers, General Manager of the Chamber.

The two day event also raised $2,140 in donations for the United Way.

“We are extremely impressed with the generosity of everyone who attended the inaugural Spring Expo, and we are proud to assist United Way and its member agencies,” says Chambers. “Through their hard work, these agencies touch every aspect of our lives – infants, children, teens, adults and seniors. They foster vibrant, inclusive and caring communities whileadvocating for solutions for critical social issues.”

“We are overwhelmed by the support of the community, and their willingness to always rally behind their family members, friends and neighbours. The support from Spring Expo will go a long ways towards building a resilient community, and thank you to the Greater Vernon Chamber for providing the opportunity to create awareness about our programs,” says Linda Yule, with United Way.
