Kin Race Track Slated For Demolition
Vernon city staff are recommending all the structures be demolished and removed from Kin Race Track.
The recommendation, which carries a price tag of $560,000, will be before city council for discussion Monday afternoon.
Kendra Kryszak, Manager of Parks and Public Spaces, says in a report to council the demolition will address safety concerns at the site such as failing structures, hazardous debris and homeless encampments.
“Administration is recommending that all structures, horse barns, cement foundations, horse track railing, observation towers, fencing, vehicle/debris and hazardous trees and vegetation be removed. Disturbed areas should then be graded, returning this area back to a “greenfield” site. A “greenfield” site is a piece of land that is underdeveloped with few or no impediments to future development, “says Kryszak.
