Short Trip Turns Into Long Cold Night
Two men spent a very cold night out in the wilderness after going snowmobiling in the North Okanagan.
The men left Monday morning from the Fintry area on Westside Road, west of Vernon, and failed to return home.
“Two guys went out for what they thought was going to be a short trip out to the hills and they obviously took a lot longer than they expected, and with temperatures dipping very far down last night, the were really lucky to just get through the night and get out of the mountains today,” Trevor Honigman from Vernon Search and Rescue tells Beach Radio News.
Honigman says their members searched all night, before finding out the men has dug themselves out and found the correct trail back home this morning.
