Measles Yet To Show Up In Interior Health
Officials held a news conference today to say there are no confirmed cases of measles in the Interior Health region, but people should make sure they follow the BC rules for immunizations.
“That includes measles-containing-vaccines and other vaccines that are effective for preventing other diseases,” says Medical Health Officer Dr. Silvena Mema.
Mema says interest in the disease has grown after an outbreak of nine cases at the Coast.
“As far as we know, that outbreak has been contained. People that were exposed have been notified. Three schools have been affected and they are dealing with that. There has also been cases of measles in Washington State which is close proximity to B.C.,” says Mema.
