New Affordable Housing Project

Ottawa is getting behind more affordable housing in Vernon.

Reps from the federal government, including Adam Vaughan, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, along with the Vernon Native Housing Society and housing stakeholders, will take part in a groundbreaking announcement Thursday at noon for Thunderbird Manor.

It’s a 38 unit affordable rental development in the 5545 27th Avenue.

Leonard Catling from Canada Mortgage and Housing calls it an innovative and exciting project for the people it is designed to help.

“It is also the first project in the Okanagan and BC’s Interior to receive announced funding under the National Housing Strategy,” says Catling.
