Order Posted on Suspected Drug House

The City of Vernon has taken action on a suspected drug house.

A notice has been posted on a house on the corner of 39th Avenue and Highway 97 from the City’s Manager of Building and Licensing.

The notice says “the premises have been found to contain unauthorized alterations, and are in a hazardous condition.”

The notice states no person shall occupy the house until cleaning and repairs are made in accordance with a City Bylaw.

“The house was closed under the Safe Premises Bylaw #5178, which lists a number of possible reasons why a building can be condemned, from hazardous conditions to failing to meeting health and safety requirements,” says City Communications Manager Nick Nilsen.

The Safe Premises Bylaw is designed to regulate, prohibit or impose requirements respecting health and safety on property.

Recent photos of the site suggest the property, at least outside the house, has been cleaned-up.
