Victor Cumming is the new mayor of Vernon.
The economist who finished second in 2014 to Akbal Mund, received 4928 votes, with Darrin Taylor second at 3608.
Erik Olsen had 990 and Art Gourley 229.
Three incumbent councilors and the outgoing mayor were re-elected.
Brian Quiring topped the councillor polls for the second straight election with 4120 votes.
Scott Anderson was second with 4108, Dalvir Nahal was third with 3891, with Kari Gares fourth with 3878.
Gares is a Coldstream resident who runs a mortgage broker business. She finished 7th, one behind Scott Anderson, in 2014, just failing to get elected.
Current mayor Akbal Mund was 5th with 3626, and Kelly Fehr got the final council spot in 6th with 3512.
Fehr is one of the executive directors of the Turning Points Collaborative Society, formerly the John Howard Society, in Vernon.
Teresa Durning was 7th with 3105 and 8th was Dawn Tucker with 2733.
Ninth was Jasmine Finley with 2592, 10th was Kevin Lepp with 2289, 11th was Shawn Lee with 2221, 12th was Jamie Morrow with 2101, 13th was Sherilee Franks with 1944, 14th was Gord Leighton with 1801, 15th was Rick Lavin with 1467, 16th was Dave DeShane with 1287, 17th was Lily Kerr with 1061, 18th was Terry Volcano with 879 and Don Jefcoat with 821 and Sam Zaharia was20th with 448.

Preliminary results from ballots cast in advance, special and regular polls in Vernon indicate that Victor Cumming is the new Mayor of the City of Vernon, having received 4,928 votes. Darrin Taylor received 3,608 votes; Erik Olesen received 990 votes; and Art Gourley received 229 votes.
