Voters in Lumby have eight people to chose from for four council spots tomorrow.

Three of them are incumbents while Nick Hodge, who was elected in 2011 has decided to retire.

Mayor Kevin Acton, who was acclaimed, says he’ll be missed.

“He brought a very different way of looking at things to the table, which always creates, I don’t know, not being corny, but good debate creates a good decision.”

Acton says it’s always nice to have people who think differently at the table so you can get a full and broader perspective of ideas.

“For sure you know, we’ve seen it in Vernon. We’ve seen it in Penticton. We’ve seen it in a lot of places where some of the incumbents give up their seats and all of a sudden it creates this sort of hornet’s nest of interest.”

Acton says it’s good for democracy to see as many people come out and generate voter interest.

Lumby voters along with those in RDNO Electoral areas “D” and “E” are also going to be electing 2 school trustees.

A reminder that voters from Cherryville have to go to the Village of Lumby office to cast their ballots because no voting station has been set up in Cherryville.
