Enderby To Bolster Emergency Plan

Enderby To Bolster Emergency Plan

The City of Enderby wants to add to tighten its Emergency Plan.

Mayor Greg McCune says one area council wants to move ahead on is seeking funding for recruitment and training of Emergency Social Services volunteers.

“Just to allow dollars now to flow through to, to make sure the training happens locally. I mean being involved with the Red Cross, that’s kind of a more broad commitment. But if something happens, who in Enderby, who will they call on.”

Staff have been directed to submit an application to the Community Emergency Preparedness Fund for that, as well as a 2nd application for evacuation planning.

McCune says the Splatsin will be invited to be a collaborative partner in the evacuation planning application.

“When it comes to the escape routing and that type of thing I think we’re both so tied in in this region that yeah, working with them is the natural step forward.”

Funding would be used to produce a detailed plan that would provide the foundation to ensure safe, strategic and effective evacuations.
