‘I remember the community we were’ : West Kelowna council candidate

Oct 7, 2026 | 10:55 AM

One of the 13 candidates vying for a place on the West Kelowna council table in this month’s civic elections says he has fond memories of the community where he grew up and now wants to help shape where the community goes next.

On his campaign website Ken Grant said council should focus on the basics residents expect: responsible use of tax dollars, safe neighbourhoods, infrastructure that keeps pace with growth, and decisions that can be explained clearly.

Responsible spending and property taxes are among Grant’s priorities.

“Before asking residents for more, City Hall should be able to show that existing spending is disciplined, priorities are clear, and taxpayers are receiving value for money” he wrote.

Regarding another priority, safer neighbourhoods, he said Council has a role in supporting effective enforcement, addressing nuisance properties and public disorder, and working constructively with police, community organizations and other levels of government.
