Early budget approval granted for new condenser at Priest Valley Arena

One of Vernon’s key recreation facilities is getting some much needed new equipment.

Vernon City Council was asked to give early budget approval to purchase a new evaporation condenser for Priest Valley Arena.

During the regular council meeting Monday, city staff noted the existing condenser was installed in 2002 and beyond it’s expected lifespan of 20 years, and had been the subject of emergency repairs recently.

Council voted in favour of granting early budget approval for the purchase of a new condenser at a cost of $1.5-million. Of that, $425,911 would come from the Recreation Facility Major Maintenance Reserve, and the remaining $1,074,089 would come from the 2027 Infrastructure Reserve funding envelope.
