Local library offering tips for young readers
Vernon families will be able to access some practical tips for encouraging reading in their young children.
The Vernon branch of the Okanagan Regional Library will run free drop-in presentations as part of its Unlock Reading: How Kids Learn to Read, Why Some Struggle and How to Help program.
The sessions will offer practical tips to support elementary children learning to read, as well as older youth who struggle with their literacy.
The sessions will explore the science of reading and give parents evidence-based strategies to solve common reading challenges, including how children learn, the reasons behind their struggles, and ways to build reading skills and confidence.
