Black bear attacks woman, dog on back deck of property in Anmore, B.C.

ANMORE — British Columbia’s Conservation Officer Service says it responded to another bear attack in Metro Vancouver earlier this week that left a woman and her dog injured.

It says in a social media post that the confrontation happened Monday on the back deck of the woman’s Anmore property.

The service says she received medical attention for non-life threatening injuries, adding that the bear had left the property by the time officers arrived.

The post says the service is monitoring the area for bear activity and will respond as necessary to ensure public safety.

The encounter follows another case in Metro Vancouver earlier this month where a three-year-old girl was also attacked by a black bear on the back deck of her home in Maple Ridge.

The service said a parent intervened and drove the bear off, and the child was airlifted to B.C. Children’s Hospital with non-life-altering injuries while the bear was later killed by RCMP officers.
