Work continues to fight Quilpituk Creek wildfire

Aug 17, 2026 | 11:43 AM

Work to control the fire near Fintry remained ongoing Monday morning.

The B.C. Wildfire Service (BCWS) said the Quilpituk Creek wildfire was still estimated at 1,275.7 hectares in size and classified as Being Held, meaning it was not expected to spread any further.

The BCWS had crews assigned to the blaze assessing and addressing danger trees, patrolling the perimeter, and extinguishing hot spots along Westside Road.

The provincial firefighting agency said it planned to have crews move further infield over the coming days to tighten the perimeter and extinguish flames.

Work was also ongoing to restore power to the area.

As of Monday morning, the BCWS had 115 firefighters, five helicopters and 10 pieces of heavy equipment assigned to the Quilpituk Creek and Bradley Creek wildfires.

The BCWS reminded boaters to stay away from fire sites so aerial resources can safely collect water, and for people to not fly drones or personal aircraft in fire areas as they can interfere with operations.
