Suspicious early morning fire damages vacant Kelowna home

Jun 4, 2026 | 11:43 AM

A vacant home in Kelowna’s north end sustained significant damage after an early morning fire Wednesday that is now being treated as suspicious.

Kelowna Fire Department crews were called to the 200 block of Asher Road just after 3 a.m. after reports of a residential structure fire.

When the first officer arrived, heavy smoke and flames were coming from the rear of a single-family home, with much of the first floor already fully involved.

The response was quickly upgraded to a second alarm, bringing additional crews to the scene.

Firefighters were able to knock down the bulk of the fire shortly after arrival. The home was confirmed unoccupied and no injuries were reported.

Crews remained on scene for several hours conducting overhaul and ventilation work due to significant damage to the structure.

Fire officials say the cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but it is being treated as suspicious at this time.

The Kelowna Fire Department responded with 18 personnel, including three engine crews, one ladder truck, one rescue unit, a safety officer, and a command unit. The investigation is ongoing.
