Mountain biker rescued after crash
Vernon Search and Rescue (VSAR) were called out Tuesday evening to help paramedics extricate a mountain biker.
VSAR said the rider went over his handlebars and into the trees, and was unable to get out, so he called 911.
Ground teams were dispatched on ATVs and then on foot until the rescuers were able to lace the rider, who was then carried out on a stretcher and a rescue toboggan to a waiting ambulance.
VSAR said the rider was able to call for help as he had cell phone coverage in the area, and that this should serve as a reminder for people to carry essential items, including a working communication device, when recreating outdoors.
