Okanagan drought level declined, but conditions still dry
The regional drought rating dropped slightly over the past week, but still remain high.
The B.C. River Forecast Centre gave the Okanagan a Drought Rating of Level 4 Thursday, June 4.
That was down from the previous week’s rating of Level 5, which is the highest possible rating, but still indicated severe dryness in the region. There were no basins at Level 5 Thursday, and the only other areas with a Level 4 rating were Kettle River and East Vancouver Island.
The agency also stated there were Moderate Water Scarcity Levels in the Upper Nicola, Lower Nicola and Coldwater Rivers Thursday.
