Water Service Interruption

Major water outage to last longer than expected

Nov 19, 2025 | 1:21 PM

The planned water outage for the South BX and East Hill areas is going to last longer than originally expected.

The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) said water was shut off for the two neighbourhoods to facilitate emergency repairs to the system at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18.

Service was originally planned to be restored by 7 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, but the RDNO said it had discovered that refilling the water line would take longer than expected.

The RDNO said water service would now be restored by 11 a.m. Thursday.

During the outage, people in the affected area were advised to have water on hand for cooking, flushing toilets, and personal hygiene.

People in the surrounding neighbourhoods were also asked to only use water for essential purposes during the service interruption.

The RDNO expects to have to issue a Boil Water Notice for the properties that were without water service once the work is completed.
