Financial Plan Input

Vernon residents asked for input on draft financial plan

Nov 17, 2025 | 10:24 AM

The City of Vernon is asking the public to have their say on the document that would guide next year’s budget.

The draft financial plan outlined an operational tax increase for 2026 of 6.74 per cent, as well as a 3.5 per cent tax for the Active Living Centre, for a total 10.24 per cent.

The proposed financial plan can be seen online and the city has an online survey that residents can fill out to have their say.

The city will also host two open houses where people can attend in person, hear about the plan from city staff, and provide their input.

Those will be held at Silverstar Brewing from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, and at city hall from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19.

“Your input matters! Community feedback is a key part of the budget process,” the City of Vernon said in a release.

“Reviewing the draft plan and sharing your priorities helps council make informed decisions.”

The city stated that parking would be available free of charge at city hall for these two open houses.

The deadline to submit input on the financial plan is November 24.
