Pump Station Power Outage

Boil Water notice issued for BX area properties

Nov 13, 2025 | 12:13 PM

Greater Vernon Water (GVW) has issued a Precautionary Boil Water Notice for several properties in Vernon’s BX neighbourhood.

GVW said a power disruption Thursday morning at a pump station led to a loss of water pressure for properties on Dixon Dam, Briggs, Hartnell, Hughes, Curlew and Malkim Roads. Service was restored but a Precautionary Boil Water Notice was issued until water sample testing showed the water was safe to consume.

Until the sample testing comes back, people in the affected areas were advised to bring their tap water to a rolling boil for a full minute before drinking, using it to prepare or cook food, including baby formula and ice, and brushing teeth.

Properties in the area may experience discoloured water or air in their pipes. In these cases, people should run their cold taps until the water turns clear, with GVW noting it was best to do this using an outdoor tap.
