Mickey Mouse looking tablets subject of drug alert
Interior Health is warning about tablets that look like candy that pose a risk of overdose.
The health authority said green tablets that have the likeness of Mickey Mouse found in Revelstoke were being sold as ecstasy and MDMA, but were found to also contain para-methoxymethamphetamine, or 4-MMA, which can cause life-threatening reactions.
IH said the combination of 4-MMA and MDMA greatly increases the risk of severe harm and can cause nausea, vomiting overhating, and death. It stated that anyone experiencing “significant agitation, fever, confusion, heavy sweating, or tremors,” should seek medical help immediately.
People were advised to have their drugs tested before use, to never use drugs alone, to not mix with other drugs or alcohol, and to carry and know how to use Naloxone.
