Fire fuel management work going outside Salmon Arm, Canoe
The B.C. Wildfire Service and Shuswap Trail Alliance are undertaking a fire fuel management project that will see smoke in the air for the coming days.
The agencies have constructed 30 piles of wood and debris to be burned near the South Canoe Trail, east of Salmon Arm.
The project aims at removing fire fuels from the area ahead of next spring and summer, though will result in smoke being visible for people in the community and those who are travelling along Highways 97B and 1.
The BCWS said the pile burning was expected to start Tuesday, Nov. 4, and could continue through to Monday, Dec. 1, depending on weather and conditions, adding these burns would be closely monitored and controlled.
