Two 17-year-old drivers are in trouble.

RCMP clocked them racing on Swamp Road in the Mission on Sunday, going at 143 km/hr in a 60 zone.

That area has seen increased complaints relating to speeding following a fatal collision earlier this year.

The young drivers were behind the wheel of BMWs and were issued violation tickets, had their cars impounded for 7 days, and there’ll be a high-risk driving review done by ICBC.

In a media release Thursday, RCMP added proactive patrols throughout the city last week resulted in the issuing of over 30-violation tickets and infractions.

In addition to the two youth drivers, officers encountered multiple instances of excessive speeding, including two motorists travelling at more than twice the posted speed limit.

These enforcement efforts also resulted in charges related to impaired driving, possession of weapons and narcotics, and driving without a drivers license.
