Gaining Insight into Local Business Needs

Local leaders, partners, taking to the streets for annual Business Walks

Oct 12, 2025 | 6:00 AM

Elected officials and community partners will be checking in with local business owners and managers as part of the annual Business Walks.

On Wednesday, Oct. 15, civic leaders and representatives from partner agencies will go business-to-business and spend five to ten minutes meeting up.

During those meetings the local business representatives will be able to provide information about the current challenges they face, what opportunities exist to support them, what type of aid they require, and if that can be provided through a local agency, and other general feedback and information.

The input gathered from the Business Walks will be compiled into a report, which will then be shared with City Council, various municipal departments, and local partner organizations.

The intent of the Business Walks is to provide insight into areas that are working well, and areas where there are issues that need to be addressed to support local business and the economy.

The partners involved in the business walks are the City of Vernon, Community Futures North Okanagan, Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Vernon Association, and Okanagan College.
