Debris fire found in Vernon’s north end still not extinguished

Vernon Fire Rescue Services were able to quickly respond to a debris fire Wednesday, but it was not fully extinguished.
Fire crews responded to a report of a fire behind the Rona store at around 9:45 p.m., Oct. 8, and upon arriving at the scene found a large pile of debris burning.
“[Firefighters] contained the fire to the pile. Due to the size of the debris pile crews were unable to fully extinguish. We are working with the property owner to extinguish the fire [Thursday],” Deputy Fire Chief, Alan Hofsink, said in a release.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
