Young entrepreneurs shone at inaugural Coldstream Youth Business Fair

The first ever Coldstream Youth Business Fair was a success.

Organizers of the event said there were 22 youth-led business stalls set up at the Coldstream Station Sunday, Oct. 2, where local youth offered a variety of goods and services ranging from cedar stump side tables to wooden coasters to home decor, and from handmade jewelry and earings to natural dog treats to green screen video experiences.

The event was also well attended by the public, leading to many of the young entrepreneurs selling out their stock.

“This fair isn’t just about selling products – it’s a hands-on learning experience in entrepreneurship,” organizers of the Coldstream Youth Business Fair said in an email to Vernon Matters.

“By removing adult interference at the booth, the event ensures that children truly engage in decision-making, problem-solving, and customer interactions. The result? Grown-ups observed confidence, resilience, and initiative; even from the youngest participants.”

The event also saw a series of judges evaluate the stalls, leading to Charlee Stein being given the Best Overall Business award for her Flora and Flour business, where she combined floral-decorated cookies, greeting cards and flower holders. Her prize for claiming that title was a paddle board, donated by Kalavida Surf Shop.
