Organizers of Vernon’s annual job fair say the most recent event was very well received.

WorkBC’s Vernon branch said the Job-A-Palooza, held at the Vernon Prestige Lodge on October 2, saw 30 local employers connect with approximately 350 job seekers.

“Job-A-Palooza is a key event for our community, and this year’s turnout exceeded our expectations,” Johanna Currie, WorkBC Vernon Placement Services and Facilitation Manager, said.

“The energy in the room was incredible, and it’s clear there is a strong demand for both qualified workers and great job opportunities in the North Okanagan.”

The employers that had booths set up at the annual job fair ranged from local business to large corporations to non-profit organizations. Among the employers who were on hand to meet with potential candidates included the City of Vernon, VegPro, and KF Aerospace.

Attendees were able to meet directly with hiring managers, submit resumes, and participate in some on-the-spot interviews with employers.

This year’s Job-A-Palooza also featured a “Lunch and Learn” session for employers ahead of the job fair where they were provided insights from Ascent Employment Law and Neil Squire Society on topics such as employment law, best practices, assistive technology services, and other employer support resources.

WorkBC also offered free assistance with resume building and interview preparation for job seekers ahead of the job fair.
