Wetsch named captain as Rockets announce leadership group
The Kelowna Rockets have announced forward Carson Wetsch as the 30th captain in franchise history.
The 19-year-old joined the Rockets this offseason after being acquired from the Calgary Hitmen during the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft. A third-round pick of the San Jose Sharks in 2024, Wetsch served as Calgary’s captain last season before being dealt to Kelowna.
Joining him in the leadership group are three alternates: Tij Iginla, Nate Corbet, and Mazden Leslie. Iginla, a first-round pick of the Utah Mammoth, will continue wearing an “A” after reprising his role from last season. Leslie, who captained the Vancouver Giants in 2024–25 before being traded to Kelowna this summer, and Corbet, acquired midway through last season and fresh off a stint at the Los Angeles Kings main camp, round out the group.
The Rockets visit the Prince George Cougars on Wednesday before returning home to host the Seattle Thunderbirds on Friday, Oct. 10, at Prospera Place.
