Prescribed burn completed near Peachland

Oct 7, 2025 | 4:02 PM

No, the smoke you may have seen on Tuesday was not a new wildfire.

The culmination of a larger three-year planned burn project in our local mountains was completed today.

The prescribed burn of 40 hectares, about five kilometres from Peachland, was not related to the recent Munro Lake wildfire, which is under control.

The BC Wildfire Service said its crews and additional personnel were onsite today conducting the project and will remain onsite conducting mop-up and patrol activities.

As there is an active Under Control wildfire in close proximity to this project the BCWS reiterated that the smoke seen from this prescribed burn is not smoke associated with the Munro Lake FSR wildfire incident.

Smoke may continue to be seen within the perimeter throughout the next few days.
