Controlled Burn Starting Wednesday

Prescribed burn planned for the Lavington area

Oct 6, 2025 | 2:16 PM

The B.C. Wildfire Service will be doing a prescribed burn near in the North Okanagan.

The service says it will be working with the Okanagan Shuswap Resource District to do a burn covering up to 40 hectares in the Harvey Lake Reservoir area, about seven kilometres east of Lavington.

The controlled burn will begin as early as Wednesday, October 8, as long as conditions are suitable.

The BCWS says the controlled burn is intended to reduce future wildfire risks by managing existing fuels, but says this will be done safely with measures in place to ensure the fire remains contained.
