UPDATE: Most Evacuation Orders rescinded for Munro Lake wildfire

Sep 27, 2025 | 6:54 AM

UPDATE 4:40 p.m. Saturday, Sept 27

Although the size of the wildfire burning near Peachland grew further Saturday, the Evacuation Order due to the Munro Lake blaze has been reduced, returning all residents to their homes with only properties in the industrial area of Peachland remaining on Evacuation Order.

The Evacuation Order area has been amended to include only a small amount of addresses.

Other addresses were placed on Evacuation Alert in addition to other Alerts already in place.

All other Evacuation Alerts remain in place. To determine if you are in the evacuation order or alert area, view the detailed map showing affected addresses at cordemergency.ca. Residents on evacuation alert should be prepared to leave their home with short notice and to stay away for an extended period.

The Munro Lake Wildfire grew slightly Saturday and was estimated at 310 hectares Saturday afternoon. It was measured at around 220 hectares previously. With some wind in the forecast, and dry conditions, emergency responders will continue to patrol the fire overnight.

The muster centre at the Peachland Community Centre was to close at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Out of an abundance of caution, residents returning home should inspect their property and trees for any damage. No structural loss was reported, but property owners should start insurance claims if they suspect wildfire damage and report it as soon as possible to their insurance representative.

In an operational update Saturday, the BC Wildfire Service said with the potential for strong southwest winds again Saturday, there may be an increase in fire behaviour.

Objectives listed for Saturday included structural protection, and the prioritization of work along the east flank of the fire. Heavy equipment is also working along the northwest corner of the fire to construct guard.

However, they’ve been asked to be prepared to leave with short notice.

A much smaller number of Peachland addresses remained on Evacuation Order .

No Regional District of Central Okanagan properties are on Evacuation Order.

Evacuation Alerts remain in place for Peachland addresses and in the regional disrict.
