Peachland wildfire: weather may cause increased activity

Sep 26, 2025 | 4:17 PM

As emergency crews continued to tackle the Munro Lake Wildfire near Peachland Friday, there were words of caution from the BC Wildfire Service.

It said the sunny and windier conditions had the potential to increase the fire behaviour of the blaze most recently measured at 220 hectares.

All Evacuation Orders and Alerts remained in place Friday afternoon.

Peachland Fire & Rescue is joined by firefighters from the BCWS and Kelowna and report limited growth on the fire Thursday night.

Structural defences have been established according to Central Okanagan Emergency Operations.

In an update BCWS said crews and heavy equipment continue to work on the southeast corner of the fire to establish guard. Heavy equipment is also working along the northwest corner of the fire. Crews will continue to work overnight.

The fire is threatening the Munro Lake FSR and the Peachland Main Road.

Approximately 325 properties remained on Evacuation Order.

Evacuation Alerts remained for 1,114 properties and residents should be ready to leave their home at a moment’s notice and be prepared to be away for an extended period of time.
