Peachland residents evacuated as Munro Lake wildfire grows

Sep 26, 2025 | 7:34 AM

A fast-moving wildfire near Peachland has forced 325 properties under evacuation order, with another 1,111 on alert.

The Munro Lake blaze, suspected to be human-caused, has prompted emergency measures along stretches of Princeton Avenue, Brenda Mines Road, and the Peachland Forest Service Road..

The muster centre at the Peachland Community Centre was closed overnight but reopened Friday morning to assist evacuees. Authorities are urging residents on alert to pack essential items and be prepared to leave their homes at a moment’s notice.

Cooler temperatures, higher humidity, and shifting winds have helped calm the fire, but crews warn conditions can change quickly. The BC Wildfire Service and local fire departments continue to monitor the blaze, with ground crews and aircraft resources ready to respond.

The fire was last mapped at 220 hectares in size and remains out of control.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed through the Regional District of Central Okanagan’s emergency website at cordemergency.ca and to follow official social media updates. Emergency support services are available at the muster centre for those in need of assistance.
