Vernonites encouraged to vote in the SiriusXM Music Town contest

Vernon residents have the chance to draw large musical act to the community.

SiriusXM Canada has brought back SiriusXM Music Town, a national program that sees communities have a chance to bring a concert to their city.

This year’s program will see the JUNO Award winning bad The Beaches play at the winning community.

People can visit the SirusXM Music Town website to nominate their community and share what makes their city special for a chance to win the title of Music Town and host the concert.

The City of Vernon encouraged people to visit the site to nominate their community and share their thoughts on what makes Vernon special and deserving of winning this contest.

“Vernon has a vibrant arts and music community, from local bands and festivals to youth music programs and live venues,” the city said in a release.

“The natural beauty and welcoming character of our city make for an incredible setting for a concert, especially from The Beaches!”

Nominations are open until October 5, and the winning city will be announced on October 14.
