Kelowna unveils major upgrades at Prospera Place ahead of Memorial Cup
Kelowna residents and Rockets fans got a first look at $5.1 million in improvements to Prospera Place during the home opener on September 19. The upgrades are part of the City effort to enhance the visitor experience and prepare the venue to host the 2026 Memorial Cup.
The improvements include a new centre-hung scoreboard, end-scoreboards, a state-of-the-art audio system, free public Wi-Fi, and multiple 98-inch display screens in concession areas. The new scoreboard increases digital display space by 750 per cent compared to the previous system, making it one of the largest in the Canadian Hockey League.
Later this year, two electric Zambonis with Fast-Ice settings will be added to improve ice quality and speed up resurfacing. The electric units also support the city’s climate goals by reducing emissions and improving indoor air quality.
City officials say the investments go beyond the arena, positioning Kelowna to host larger events, boost tourism, create jobs, and provide world-class experiences for residents and visitors alike. A media riser will also be installed ahead of the Memorial Cup to ensure the venue is event ready.
