Investigation underway after string of suspicious grass fires in West Kelowna

Sep 17, 2025 | 10:38 AM

West Kelowna firefighters were kept busy overnight after several small grass fires broke out across multiple neighbourhoods.

Crews were first dispatched around 11:30 p.m. to fires along Wetton Road, Old Okanagan Highway, and Ingram Road. It is believed they also responded to several other small blazes in nearby areas. All fires were quickly contained before spreading to homes or other properties.

Some residents have suggested the fires may have been set deliberately. West Kelowna Fire Rescue says three of the confirmed fires are considered suspicious, though officials stopped short of saying a firebug is responsible.

Firefighters responded with four engines, two safety officers, and a command unit. All incidents remain under investigation this morning.
