UPDATE: Boil Water Notice lifted for the BX area

Sep 15, 2025 | 6:00 AM

UPDATE 5 p.m. Sept 19

The Boil Water Notice issued following a water service interruption related to work on the water system in the BX area has been lifted.

The RDNO rescinded the notice Friday after sample testing showed the water disinfection levels were within the safe drinking range.

People may experience air in their pipes or discouloured water, and the RDNO encouraged people in these cases to run their cold taps until the water runs clear. It advised people do this using an outdoor tap.

Select properties in the BX neighbourhood will see a temporary water interruption Tuesday.

Greater Vernon Water (GVW) said planned upgrades to the water infrastructure would result in a water outage between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m., Sept. 16.

The work will affect properties in the BX area, which can be seen below.

Following the outage, GVW will issue a Boil Water Notice for the affected properties. That notice will remain in place until testing shows the water is within the safe drinking standard.

GVW said the work may cause water to be discoloured or air to in pipes. In those cases, people should run their cold taps until the water turns clear, with GVW stating it was best to do this using an outdoor tap.
