Sep 15, 2025 | 10:30 AM

Mounties are investigating a collision on the Trans-Canada Highway that resulted in one person’s death.

Salmon Arm RCMP said a pedestrian was stuck by an eastbound vehicle on Highway 1, just east of 10th Ave. SW in Salmon Arm, around 12:10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 15.

The man then suffered a fatal cardiac arrest episode.

RCMP said the man was not believed to be local to Salmon Arm, though did not provide any indication of where he was from.

The driver of the subject vehicle reportedly remained on scene and was cooperating in the investigation, with Mounties saying driver impairment was not suspected to be a factor in the collision.

The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service were called to the scene to assist with the investigation, which resulted in a section of the highway being closed for several hours.

Salmon Arm RCMP asked that anyone who witnessed the collision or have dashcam footage of the incident contact the detachment at 250-832-6044 and refer to case file #2025-5462.
