Sovereign Lodge improvements completed

The local lodge for cross country skiers to access has been enhanced.

The Sovereign Lake Nordic Club said physical work on the main day lodge was completed over the summer in preparation for the upcoming ski season.

The improvements include repairs to the foundation in the crawl space, improved drainage around the foundation, and roof replacement. The club noted the roof was also designed to fit with the proposed addition to the lodge.

“All of these items were required both as prerequisites for the planned lodge renewal project and because they were needed to enable safe and comfortable operations this winter and moving forward,” the Sovereign Lake Nordic Club stated.

The work cost approximately $120,000, which was paid for through a $14,585 B.C. Gaming Grant and a contribution of $7,290 from the Kalamalka Rotary Club’s Dream Auction, and Lodge Legacy Project reserves.

The club added it’s fundraising initiative to support the lodge and future enhancements is ongoing and people who wish to make a donation can do so online.
