The B.C. Cross Country Championships will be held in Vernon for the second straight year.

The Vernon Amateur Athletics Association (VAAA), also known as the Vernon Track and Field Club, said the provincial racing championships will be held at the DND Grounds in Vernon on Saturday, Oct. 18.

“The event will showcase a challenging course for athletes of all ages and abilities,” the VAAA said in a release, though adding this year’s event won’t just be for competitive runners as there will also be Community Fun Runs on 1 km and 5 km routes that day.

“We are excited to welcome the BC Cross Country Championships back to Vernon,” Michael Stoll, President of the Vernon Track and Field Club, stated.

“Last year’s event was a fantastic success, and adding a community fun run makes this year even more special, it’s a chance for everyone to be part of the action.”

People wishing to participate in the fun runs can register online here.
