People wishing to give back to their community can learn more about local organizations and volunteer opportunities at a special event Saturday.

NexusBC Community Resource Centre will host the Vernon Volunteer Fair at the Schubert Centre from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 13.

The event will bring people together with 30 local organizations so they can learn about the service and programs they offer and how to get involved with the groups.

“Volunteering is one of the best ways to build connections, gain experience, and make a meaningful impact in our community,” Lee Brinkman, marketing and events manager at NexusBC, stated.

“The Volunteer Fair makes it easy to meet many organizations in one place and find the perfect fit.”

NexusBC added that “volunteers are the backbone” of non-profits in Vernon, and there are opportunities available for people all ages to get involved in organizations offering a range of programs “from health and senior services, to arts and culture, human rights, and recreational groups.”
