Noble Canyon wildfire held, evacuation alerts remain in effect

Sep 8, 2025 | 10:11 AM

The fire situation has been somewhat contained outside Lavington.

The B.C. Wildfire Service said the Noble Canyon wildfire was deemed as ‘being held’ shortly before 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10. That designation indicates the fire was not expected to spread beyond the current boundaries.

As of the time of publication, the fire had burned an estimated 67 hectares of terrain, and was mainly a smouldering ground fire.

Local fire crews were still assigned to the blaze, and were being assisted by BCWS crews. The provincial firefighting service had deployed 53 firefighters to assist with the Noble Canyon suppression efforts, and had aerial resources on standby to be deployed if necessary.

The BCWS reminded boaters to stay clear of the aircraft when they fill up at nearby lakes.

Evacuation Alerts remained in effect for roughly 150 properties near the fire zone, including for those who were issued Evacuation Orders late Friday night but had them downgraded Sunday.

The BCWS said no structures were damaged by the fire, which was suspected of being caused by human activity.
