Free tire collection: Regional District

It’s that time of year again.

The RDCO is launching its free tire collection in Kelowna.

Residents can bring any old or unused tires to Okanagan College, on Saturday, September 6, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Officials with the regional district say removing tires reduces mosquito breeding and helps keep homes and neighbourhoods more comfortable this summer.

Tire Stewardship B.C. says all collected tires are recycled and turned into new products….not sent to landfill.

The event is for residential use only.

Since 2016, this program has kept more than 14,000 unwanted tires out of yards and fields where they could hold water and create perfect mosquito breeding sites.

Start looking around your property now so you are ready for drop-off day.
