Fires restricted late

Okanagan campfire ban comes later this year

Starting Thursday at noon, a basic campfire ban kicks in across the Okanagan.

It is called a Category 1 ban, which means no campfires, backyard fires, or ceremonial fires are allowed.

Anyone breaking the rules could face big fines or jail.

By comparison, last summer, a campfire ban in the Okanagan was declared on July 12th, showing how late this year’s restrictions came.
