UPDATE: One person injured in HWY 97 crash

UPDATE 2:45 p.m. —

One person was injured in the crash on the highway south of Vernon Friday.

B.C. Emergency Health Services told Vernon Matters that an ambulance responded to a report of a crash on Highway 97 near Bailey Road at 11:59 a.m. August 22.

“Paramedics provided emergency medical treatment to one patient who was transported to hospital,” BCEHS spokesperson, Bowen Osoko, said in an email to Vernon Matters.

The circumstances around the crash were still not known as of time of publication.

The crash did require one northbound and one southbound lane to be closed until about 2 p.m. Friday.

DriveBC says the incident that forced a partial closure of Highway 97 south of Vernon has been cleared, and all lanes were reopened around 1:50 p.m.

The crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. Friday, and emergency personnel have yet to report any details of the incident.

DriveBC is reporting a car crash on Highway 97 south of Vernon.

The crash reportedly occurred near the intersection with Bailey Road around 12 p.m., and first responders were on the scene and had closed off one lane in each direction.

Emergency personnel have not yet provided any details about the accident of the condition of those involved.
